WYSA is excited to announce the return of the annual WYSA Golden Boy Tournament! Below contains important dates and information regarding the tournament. The Golden Boy will be hosted from February 13th - 17th, 2025 and will be available to all teams who are a sanctioned member of their provincial/state association. The tournament will be played at three world-class facilities throughout Winnipeg, the Winnipeg Soccer Federation's North & South locations, as well as the University of Winnipeg RecPlex! Last year's event played host to over 110 teams across 22 divisions, including several teams from outside of the province. We are looking forward to hosting another fun and exciting tournament in 2025. Please find some preliminary details on the tournament below:
As Manitoba differs from several provinces/states in our age classes, please double-check that the team you registered is in the correct division based on the birth years of the players:
High School Players who are eligible to participate with their school based on MHSAA & WYSA eligibility requirements.
Please ensure you register in the correct division based on your player's birth year! We will be offering Premier (13-17-year-old Competitive), Developmental (9-12-year-old Competitive), Recreational (9-18 years old), and High School divisions, so there is competition for all teams!!
The 2025 Golden Boy Tournament will be Canada Soccer and Manitoba Soccer compliant with respect to LTPD competition, guidelines, and standards. All teams registered in U9 - U12 divisions will participate in a festival-style tournament, which means they will not be competing for a trophy or medals. This standard has been designed to create the best possible learning and development environment for all players, which is based on global best practice while considering the realities of Canadian Soccer and truly focusing on Long Term Player Development!
Team rosters that have been approved by the governing body for soccer in your province must be submitted prior to the tournament.
If you are a club/organization that is sending multiple teams, you may have a coach who is coaching multiple teams. If that is the case, please notify us about that as soon as possible so we can try and create a schedule that accommodates these various coaching duties. It should be noted that we will do everything in our power to try and accommodate your request, but it is not guaranteed.
Refunds will only be considered based on the timing of the team removing themselves from the tournament and the impact it has on the division. All decisions based on refunds will be under the auspice of the WYSA Executive Director.
Additional communication will be sent out in the coming weeks regarding aspects such as, Rules & Regulations, Raffles, Merchandise, Host Hotels, and other important information.
