Below are important dates and information regarding the tournament. The Boston Pizza Players Tournament will be hosted from May 27th to May 31st, 2026, and will be available to all teams who are a sanctioned member of their provincial/state association. The tournament will be played at the John Blumberg Soccer Complex, with the U13-U18 Championship matches being played at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex! Last year's event played host to over 150 teams across 21 divisions, including several teams from outside of the province. We are looking forward to hosting another fun and exciting tournament in 2026. Please find some preliminary details on the tournament below:
As Manitoba differs from several provinces/states in our age classes, please double-check that the team you registered is in the correct division based on the birth years of the players:
Please ensure you register in the correct division based on your player's birth year! We will be offering Premier (13-17-year-old Competitive), Developmental (11&12-year-old Competitive), Recreational (11-18 years old), and Grassroots (U8-U10) divisions, so there is competition for all teams!!
The 2026 Boston Pizza Players Tournament will be Canada Soccer and Manitoba Soccer compliant with respect to LTPD competition, guidelines, and standards. All teams registered in U11 - U12 divisions will participate in a festival-style tournament, which means they will not be competing for a trophy or medals. All teams registering in the U8-U10 divisions will be taking part in a skills challenge. This standard has been designed to create the best possible learning and development environment for all players, which is based on global best practice while considering the realities of Canadian Soccer and truly focusing on Long Term Player Development!
The 2026 Boston Pizza Players Tournament will be the first WYSA tournament to implement the new Grassroots program into the tournament. This means that the U8-U10 Age groups will be different than in previous years! At this years WYSA will be hosting skills challenges, games, and chances to win exciting prizes!
Each Grassroots group will do 4 skill drills (Shooting, passing, dribbling, and a small game) and then they will end with a game against another organization's Grassroots group.
Team rosters that have been approved by the governing body for soccer in your province/state must be submitted on May 15th, 2026, prior to the tournament.
For U8-U10 Grassroots organizations, organizations will be asked to submit “Groups†of 8-12 players.
More Information on this will be available prior to registration.
If you are a club/organization that is sending multiple teams, you may have a coach who is coaching multiple teams. If that is the case, please notify us about that as soon as possible so we can try and create a schedule that accommodates these various coaching duties. It should be noted that we will do everything in our power to try and accommodate your request, but it is not guaranteed.
Refunds will only be considered based on the timing of the team removing themselves from the tournament and the impact it has on the division. All decisions based on refunds will be under the auspice of the WYSA Executive Director.
