FCNW Alum Desiree Scott Announces Retirement After an Incredible Career

 

The entire youth soccer community in Winnipeg and beyond is beaming with pride as we celebrate the remarkable career of Desiree Scott, who has officially announced her retirement from professional soccer. As a former FCNW player, Desiree has blazed a trail for future generations, leaving behind an unparalleled legacy both on the professional stage and in international competitions.

 

Desiree’s career is decorated with incredible achievements, most notably her Gold medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, a moment that will forever remain etched in the hearts of soccer fans across Canada. This triumph followed her successive bronze medals in the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympic Games, establishing her as one of the most successful athletes in Canadian soccer history.

 

In addition to her Olympic accolades, Desiree proudly represented Canada in three FIFA World Cups—in 2011, 2015, and 2019—demonstrating her immense dedication to the sport at the highest level. On the professional stage, she has been a formidable force in the NWSL, where she clocked over 10,000 minutes of game time, a true testament to her resilience and endurance as a player.

 

As we reflect on her incredible career, we cannot help but feel a deep sense of pride, not just in Winnipeg, but across the nation. Desiree’s achievements inspire our youth, and her impact on soccer players—both present and future—will be felt for years to come.
